Mountain ridges represent the very essence of classic mountaineering. Progressing along the edge of a mountain, between heaven and earth, is one of the most rewarding and aesthetic experiences the Pyrenees can offer. Unlike wall climbing, ridges combine technical progression with continuous movement, allowing us to conquer summits through their most elegant lines.
At Free Tracks we accompany you to conquer these legendary lines in Val d'Aran and surrounding areas, always guaranteeing maximum safety and progressive learning.
Our ridge trips are designed for those who want to go a step beyond high mountain hiking. It's not just about climbing a peak, but about enjoying the path along its airiest and most exciting part.
Our high mountain guides will take care of managing the rope and safety gear, allowing you to focus on the landscape and the progression technique in an unparalleled high mountain environment.
From sharp but simple ridges for beginners, to great Pyrenean challenges that require endurance and skill. We adapt the activity to your experience level and physical condition.
Planning, studying the weather, and choosing the right itinerary are part of our commitment to making your ridge adventure a total success.

Progression along ridges requires a perfect symbiosis between the guide and the client. At Free Tracks, we understand mountaineering as a shared activity where trust and teaching go hand in hand.
On ridges, safety is based on impeccable rope management. Due to the nature of the terrain, we work with very low ratios (maximum 2 people per guide) to ensure constant supervision and fluid progression.
We use state-of-the-art technical equipment and dynamic safety techniques that guarantee the integrity of the group at all times, even on the airiest steps.
We don't just guide you; we like you to learn. During the activity, we will share notions of technical progression, interpreting topos, and managing safety in the mountains, so that your mountaineering knowledge grows with each outing.
Do you dream of the Salenques Ridge, Alba, or the Besiberris? Tell us your goal and we will draw up the training plan and the ideal date to face it with the greatest guarantees.
TELL US YOUR DREAMMeet the high mountain guides who will accompany you on your adventures along the ridges. Certified professionals with a wide experience in the Pyrenees and great mountain ranges.
Our GuidesWe work with groups of 1 or 2 people, ensuring the highest level of attention and safety in exposed terrain.
We teach you to move with ease on granite and limestone, improving your confidence in the void.
Ridges offer the best perspectives of valleys and glaciers. An incomparable visual experience.
While sport climbing focuses on overcoming technical difficulties on vertical and short walls, ridge mountaineering (or arêtes) seeks to gain a summit following the edge of the mountain. It is an activity of endurance and continuous movement where the terrain is varied (blocks, slabs, small walls) and the exposure to the void is constant.
Not necessarily. There are ridges of all levels. For beginner (PD) ones, it is enough to have a good physical condition and be used to walking on high mountain terrain. For intermediate or advanced level ridges, it is recommended to have basic notions of climbing or to have made some previous outing with a guide.
Basic equipment includes mountain boots (or technical approach shoes depending on the ridge), helmet, harness, and clothing suitable for high mountains. Free Tracks provides all technical safety equipment (ropes, carabiners, slings, etc.). We will always send you a detailed list before the outing.
Safety on ridges requires a very low guide ratio (usually 1 guide for every 1 or 2 clients). This ensures that the guide can control every movement and secure every exposed step. In addition, these are long high mountain days that require specific preparation and logistics by the professional.

A disfrutar!!!! ^^
Gracias Free Tracks, gracias Paz, gracias Fara.
